Eucalyptus stricta (Blue Mountains Mallee Ash)

The southern population found on a few peaks around Bega (e.g Dr George Mtn) is disjunct from the main population of E. stricta in the Sydney Basin, and occupies slightly different habitat (rocky crests on a variety of rock types, rather than in heath on sandstone plateaux) and has been regarded as a separate species, E. spectatrix. In general appearance they are very similar, being separated in the key (Flora of NSW) only by E. stricta having leaves <10mm wide and E. spectatrix leaves >10mm wide.
