User's notes

A few more images to help with ID, but not much better I'm afraid.

That does help thanks. I can see more of the front leg and a bit more of the markings on the back near the neck. Like John, my first instinct was that this was a L. whitii but then convinced myself it wasn't. Now I can confirm (cautiously) that it is Liopholis whitii. The reasons are a bit technical and include for the lizard in your photo: nasal scales not in contact, prefrontals not in broad contact (they are in contact and it is perhaps not clear as to the extent of contact), lack of a clear pale stripe below eye, presence of several dark-edged obscure pale spots on underside of jaw (these are obscured a bit by a blade of grass), lack of longitudinal pale and light stripes on the fore limb (what look like faint stripes are just dark edges to scales and this is typical of L. whitii leg colour). So thanks for the extra photos. I will wait to see if John agrees and then one of us will confirm the id as L. whitii if we agree. Thanks again, Will.

Yes, I still think it is most likely to be whitii and agree with Will.
